Kendrick Lamar good kid – good kid, m.A.A.d city

This track sets off the theme of the second half of good kid, m.A.A.d city.  Kendrick talks about getting jumped stating, “for the record I recognize that I’m easy prey/I got ate alive yesterday.”

What got Kendrick jumped and what did he do after?  Listen here to find out:

Kendrick uses this time to go into the negative effects of growing up in a heavily gang environment of Compton, CA.  Kendrick talks about the Reds and the Blues in his neighborhood and the situation with police in the area.

Kendrick states that the police give no sympathy in his area and they stereotype him for being gang affiliated just by the color of his skin.

Kendrick depicts his childhood as a place that traps him in this violent culture just based on the environment he lives in.
