Tony Award winner with Kendrick Lamar

Fresh off her 2018 Tony Awards nomination for “She Loves Me” and her even more recent appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” impersonating Melania Trump, Laura Benanti brings her new cabaret show, “Tales From Soprano Aisle,” to Feinstein’s at the Nikko.

The title pokes fun at the ingenuous, deadly serious roles in which sopranos such as Benanti often get cast. Thankfully for audiences, Benanti has bucked that trend over the years, showcasing her ample comedic talents as Candela in “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” and Louise in “Gypsy” (and receiving another Tony nod for the former and a win for the latter), among many others.

In addition to songs from throughout her career, including “Vanilla Ice Cream” from “She Loves Me,” Benanti’s cabaret act will include one song from Kendrick Lamar and feature anecdotes from her nearly 20 years on Broadway and television, all delivered with her signature sharp wit — and perhaps one in a certain Slovenian accent?
